Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a thin, white colored protective coating which seals the deep grooves on the premolars and molars. It helps to prevent the bacterial attack on the teeth and prevent tooth decay.

Regular brushing and flossing help in removing the food and plaque between and around the. However, often deep grooves retain the plaque. Therefore, sealants help to seal the grooves and prevent the cavities.

What to Expect During Sealant Treatment

Sealants are very effective and an easy way to prevent cavities.

Teeth are thoroughly cleaned to clean up any plaque in the grooves or around the teeth.

Teeth are isolated with cotton rolls and dried well. Etchant (acidic solution) is placed in the tooth and then cleaned with water. Then the tooth is dried once again.

Sealants are placed on the tooth where it bonds with the enamel of the teeth. Using a special light the coating hardens and excess material is cleaned.
